Is the Francis School accredited?
The Francis School is an accredited high school in New York State.
Who attends the Francis School?
The students who attend Francis School are students who are missing credits to complete their high school diploma. Students are able to complete the credits on-line and receive an accredited high school diploma through our school. We also accept students who want to take additional courses for academic improvement, who want to catch up, who are enrolling in summer school, or, as a tutorial for classes they are currently taking.
Can I receive a diploma through the Francis School?
Students must be 18 years or older to enroll in this
program. A maximum of 6 courses may be taken to receive
a Francis School Diploma.
Can my credits be transferred to another school?
These credits can be transferred. Each school is different about accepting credits from other institutions. Please check with your local school district.
Can I take more than one course at a time?
Yes, but we recommend that you do not take more than 3 courses at the same time.
How long does it take to complete each course?
Each course is different and you can work at your own pace. Usually the courses range from one term (5 months) to one year (10 months).
How do I register for courses?
Registration is a two step process. To pre-register, you send us your transcript and $25 fee. Transcript evaluators will send you a list of courses you need to receive your high school diploma or suggest what courses you should take for tutorial and academic improvement.
The next step is registration. You do not have to register for all the courses at the same time: you may register for as many as you want and start them at your convenience.
Can International students take courses and receive a diploma?
Yes, they need to follow the same process and send us their transcripts from their local high school.
What does it cost?
Each course generally ranges from $275 to $350.
Who developed the courses?
All of the courses were developed by certified teachers in the specific subject area.
If I fail an exam or assignment, can I do it over?
Yes, our goal is for you to learn the course subject and have an understanding of the material. If you fail an assignment or exam you can take it over anytime.
What are the school's testing procedures?
Each student is given a unique username and password. The students take the test on-line and the results are available immediately. The student prints out the results and sends them to the Francis School. Students are allowed to use specific resources to complete the exam (lessons, Internet and notes). What is to keep students from cheating?
All exams require a username and password for secure test taking. All assignments require original thought and research. Each student signs an honor policy at the registration process.
How can I get help with my course work?
There are many ways to get help. Each course has a list of additional resources and websites that will assist you in completing the course. We have on-line instructors to whom you can e-mail questions and problems. We also have an on-line bulletin board to post questions and start conversations with instructors and classmates.
How do I get my grades?
At the completion of each course you will receive a grade report in the mail. At the end of all your courses you will receive a copy of your transcript and a diploma.
