COMPUTER AND PERIPHERALS
An IBM compatible computer running Windows 95 or higher equipped with a printer (laser or ink jet). Macintosh users may experience some minor inconveniences but can use the Francis Virtual School.

SOFTWARE
Word Processing software (Wordpad or Microsoft Word). Electronic mail software with the capability of sending and receiving attachments (this is not necessary if you are using a web-based e-mail system such as Yahoo or Juno). A web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher or Netscape Communicator 4.6 or higher). If you are using AOL or Prodigy you may use their web browser and e-mail system.

Additional software such as Shockwave, Winzip, Windows Media Player, Real Player will assist you in viewing the websites more effectively and can be downloaded for free. Go to our Technical Support page for download and installation instructions.

INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER
It is important you have a reliable Internet connection. You may use a dial-up or DSL connection. We suggest your connection speed is 33.6 MBPS or higher.

MAIL/PHONE
You must have an e-mail account that can send and receive attachments. Most e-mail accounts provided by your Internet Service Provider will work fine. You can use a free web based e-mail service.
